Is there any good Cheese out There? | Autism PDD

Share

Week 2 of GF/CF Diet. 9 Yr old with P.D.D. / ADHD.

I tried the rice dream cheese slices and my son hated them. He isn't even picky so they must have been bad. I would love to make a pizza for him or put some in eggs.

Can he have soy cheese??? I just don't understand why no soy? Is there any other cheeses that taste ok that someone might recomend.

I'm all alone in this with no suport from my family so I thank you very much!

ok here is the link to the maker....its the vegan rice cheese. No glutern, Soy or dairy

i tried it myself, and it wasnt bad...it just didnt melt well

can I give my son Soy??? We have do Dan doctors out here??

Noahs#1fan39377.5554282407Yes, you can do soy, but some kids don't like/agree with it. my sister found a vegan cheese that has no casin or gluten in it...as soon as i get ahold of her i will post the name of the cheese. It is not bad at all![QUOTE=Faithishope]

The rice cheese I found still had casein in it.  The only ones I found that is ok, was the Follow your heart.  My son seems to like it.  I would not try giving him a slice (I don't think it is that great alone), but with Quinoa pasta, or on a taco, he seemed to like it.

how do I know where the casin is hiding. I picked out that cheese and totally overlooked that!

Thank you for bringing that to my attenttion.

Noahs#1fan39377.6667013889The ones I looked at had Casienate in them, or a lactic acid starter.  Even the soy ones that were available to me had it.  It was disheartening for sure.  Good luckAs the previous poster stated, some children will have intolerances to soy.  So if you removed soy from their diet at the same time you removed gluten and casien...a good indicator is if you reintroduce it into his diet and he has a negative reaction physically or in his behavior.  If that happens, then you can remove the soy again.Vegan Gourmet is pretty good but it is soy. We had to give it up once my
son tested highly sensitive to soy.

go to Yahoo groups and join GFCFkids and GFCFrecipes and you will find a lot of really good help. These are large message boards with very active people that have been doing the diet for years. I am also in my 2nd week with my child and it's really hard but I have found a lot of help on those boards.

Thanks and hang in there!

this looked like a good site for cheese. I was going to order from them, you might want to try it also:

I also found a great recipe for pizza and it was easy!

I used veggie shreads for the cheese and later saw that they had casein in them! So I was going to try the follow your heart cheese.

Good Luck, I have a cheese lover kid also and its so hard!

If you opt to give soy, Tofutti cheeses are good, casien-free and even melt like cheese.I buy that for my son and put it on nachos and he likes it
